2025 Aikido Seminar with Yamashima Sensei
A Journey of Keiko, Friendship, and Gratitude – Ho Chi Minh City & Hanoi
In December 2025, Yuko Shinzen Dojo welcomed Yamashima Sensei back with much joy and anticipation. This time, his journey from Japan to Ho Chi Minh City took an unforgettable two days and two nights. A minor issue forced the aircraft to return to Japan halfway through the flight, making the journey much longer than expected.
Thankfully, Sensei finally arrived, though his legs were stiff and numb after the long journey. Seeing him again, our worry turned into relief, happiness, and heartfelt gratitude.
The 2025 seminar will stay with us for more than the lessons shared on the tatami. We will also remember the long journey Sensei made to be with us — a quiet expression of his care for the students waiting to welcome him in Vietnam.
📸 Part 1: Keiko at Yuko Shinzen Dojo – Ho Chi Minh City
Back on the tatami at Yuko Shinzen Dojo, we had the chance to practise with Sensei, watch his demonstrations, and learn through each movement. There was time for focused keiko, questions, and smiles between practice partners. These photographs bring back moments from our time together, while the lessons continue in our everyday practice.
📸 Part 2: Continuing the Journey – Hanoi Seminar
After the seminar at Yuko Shinzen Dojo, Yamashima Sensei continued his journey to Hanoi, where we came together for more shared keiko and time with friends. Practising under Sensei’s guidance gave us much to learn and carry back to our own dojos. Beyond the tatami, moments spent exploring Hanoi together added warmth to the visit. These photographs preserve both the dedication of the practice and the simple joy of being together.
