Chiyoda-ku Aikikai was founded in 1972 in the Kanda area of Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, using a local sports facility as its training venue. In its early years, the dojo received instruction from Mitsugi Saotome Sensei at the Aikikai Hombu Dojo, followed by over two decades of guidance from Seigo Yamaguchi Sensei. After Yamaguchi Sensei’s passing, Seijuro Masuda Sensei took on the role of instructor, and today, under the leadership of Chairman Takeshi Yamashima, the dojo continues its training while actively engaging in exchanges with overseas dojos.
At Chiyoda-ku Aikikai, we are privileged to have many experienced instructors, each offering a unique approach to Aikido. One of our defining characteristics is the opportunity to observe and experience a diverse range of techniques, reflecting the individual styles of our instructors. Our philosophy is rooted in continuous learning—pursuing the study of Aikido with a broad perspective and an open mind, while avoiding complacency in our personal development.
As a social organization under the Aikikai Foundation, we are committed to refining our techniques and fostering the development of both mind and body in alignment with the foundation’s principles. Our activities are dedicated to promoting the spread and growth of Aikido.
Yuko Shinzen Dojo is honored to be officially recognized and certified as an affiliated dojo of Chiyoda-ku Aikikai in Tokyo, Japan, under the authorization of YAMASHIMA Sensei, the President and Head Instructor of Chiyoda-ku Aikikai.
